RULE 05 OF 13 · PART 2: THE READING
Ask why until you're back at the beginning.
And the answer isn't someone else.
WHERE YOU ARE · MOVE 3 OF 6: FIND THE ROOT
The first question to ask about any problem is one word: why.
Not "Who did this?" Not "How do I make it go away?" Why. And the first place to look for the answer is the mirror.
Sometimes it really is the other person. Then ask who chose that person, who gave them the responsibility, and who stayed when the signs were there. Blame someone else and you keep the problem. You pay for it again every time it comes back. Find the root and you pay once.
Chapter 5 treats failure as an A/B test: two kinds of failure, two different questions, and why opinions only count as data when you collect them the right way.

THE RULE, AGAIN
Every problem has a price, and every problem pays.
NOBODY GETS TO NOT PAY. YOU ONLY GET TO CHOOSE THE COLUMN.
SAY IT OUT LOUD
Why? And the answer isn't someone else.
Pick one problem that keeps coming back. Write down the solution you keep using. Then change one thing about it. Not everything. One thing. That's an A/B test, and you've just started your first one.
THE NEXT MOVE
The full chapter is in the book.
The stories, the objections and the teaching behind Rule 5 are in Chapter 5 of Problems Pay.
