RULE 11 OF 13 · PART 4: THE TRANSFER
Let it hurt. Make it stick.
A lesson isn't learned until it hurts, and a lesson you file is a bill you've agreed to pay again.
WHERE YOU ARE · MOVE 6 OF 6: MAKE IT STICK
Good lessons get forgotten because they didn't hurt.

You've nodded along to plenty of advice. Save more. Call your mother. Don't sign anything you haven't read. You agreed with every word, then didn't do it, because agreeing never cost you anything.
The lessons you keep are the ones that came with a bill. A lesson that only lives in your head isn't learned. It's filed, and a filed lesson is a bill you've agreed to pay again.
It's fine to learn something twice. Discipline is what keeps it the second time. Chapter 11 covers why nobody should wait to get hurt, what to do when the habit slips, and second chances in practice.
THE RULE, AGAIN
Every problem has a price, and every problem pays.
NOBODY GETS TO NOT PAY. YOU ONLY GET TO CHOOSE THE COLUMN.
SAY IT OUT LOUD
A lesson isn't learned until it hurts. I've paid. Now I collect.
Write down one lesson you've paid for twice. Then write what you'll do differently starting tomorrow, in one line, and put it somewhere you'll see it when the pain has faded.
THE NEXT MOVE
The full chapter is in the book.
The stories, the objections and the teaching behind Rule 11 are in Chapter 11 of Problems Pay.
